Several people have asked me about EVP's in foreign languages.  David writes:

"I've captured an EVP that sounds like the person is speaking in a foreign language.  The land was previously occupied by Native American tribes.  Can EVP's appear in a foreign language?

Yes, EVP's can appear in any language.  Normally, the EVP will appear in the language that the spirit spoke during his lifetime.  For instance, if you travel to France, most of the EVP's will be in French.  Likewise, if you live in Brazil, most of the EVP's will be in Portuguese.  Cris, a new ghost hunter from Brazil, has captured two EVP's in Portuguese. Cris also has an interesting photo with images that appear to be moving orbs—along with a strange streak across the wall.  Cris writes:

Hi. My name is Cris—I'm a girl from Brazil, and I am new to ghost hunting.  Lately, I kept hearing footsteps in a floor above my room. So I went there one day and decided to try some EVPs.  I got results.  Two different voices, one saying "Pedro" (meaning "Peter", in Portuguese) and the other one, about an hour later saying "Meu pai" (meaning "my father").  After that I decided to try and take some photos.  While taking the pictures, me and my brother, at the same time, saw a thin shadow pass.  In the photos, I got some orbs, that I believe were just dust, but there was one picture that was a little different.  I would like to know your opinion on the pic, because, being new to ghost hunting, I'm still not so good at identifing real orbs.  It's the one I circled in red that caught my attention. I am also sending the original photo attached and the EVPs, just to illustrate.

Cris has given me permission to post her EVP's and photos online for everyone to see.

I'll let readers make their own determination about Cris' photo.  Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.  Thanks to David for his question about foreign EVP's, and congrats to Cris on her EVP's (and unusual photograph).

Comments on EVPs in a Foreign Language & Photos of Orb-Like Streaks

It's definitely an interesting photograph. I wouldn't want to speculate on the spots on the door since it looks like it's a possibility of light reflection off of semi gloss paint. The Orb on the wall, or in front of the wall, looks like it could be an orb. What I find most interesting about the photo is the light streak. It appears as though the light is passing behind the first two wires from the top, but in front of the last group of wires at the bottom. It's possible this is just an optical illusion from the wires being slightly out of focus. All in all, I think its a very intriguing photo.

It's hard to tell whether the dots on the upper-part of the door should be counted as orbs. The bottom section of the door is definitely a reflection (in my opinion). The streak on the wall is certainly odd, and combined with the EVPs makes you wonder what else is in the room. The ball of light—to the right of the streak—definitely looks like an orb. Good point about the wires (optical illusion).

Hi GG. Thanks for mentioning/tagging me. I'll plan to write about about "How I Became Interested in the Paranormal" later next week. Good suggestion.

Look at the floor.  The area that this ghostly encounter happened in was bad from the start–lighting, shiney objects.  I think that it's great to start looking, I have been looking and seeing and debunking my own and others photos, I DO SEE MORE unexplained energy.  I'M SORRY, I'm tired, keep looking and snap all the pics that you can.  Good Luck enjoy. Well, I think the lights on the door that you see are from poor lighting or reflections.  The streak on the wall was what I found hard to belive but I think maybe from the flash in the wide angle pic there is what looks like a reflection from the chair or the metal leg from what looks like a chair on the desk or table to the left in the pic.  It is at the right height and angle to be a reflection from the flash of the cam.  I also think the orb on the wall looks like dust to me, it has the right color tone as what dust looks like on film but that's just me.  I'm no expert but hey I think it is something to look more into, but what I was wondering about is in that open door way it looks like there is something in that pic or window on the wall.  What is that?  I can't zoom in on the pic.

Hi, I found your site.  Ihope you can help me out on orbs.  I see them with my own eyes, have seen them in photos also the latest colour was blue.  I usually see white, they moved around quite slowly so I imagine not hostile.  It's always when I go somewhere with a history of hauntings.  Any comments would be apprieacated.  Julie

I have seen the orb (streak) twice, both I captured on my Camcorder.  The orb (streak) I found was more determined in direction, if you like, than the ordinary orb.  The first I filmed was in my flat..this was accompanied by an ordinary orb.  The second was in another location.  Watching them on film it seems they are more powerful and driven than the ordinary orb.

Desdemona Genevieve @ 6:51 pm

I notice that the elongated orb is almost identical to the ones I have seen.  Although many are disputing it.  I would have to say that a moving image would be better than a still.  They are quite frightening when seen movng, as they are quite ferocious and one gets a feeling of agenda and intent!!  They are very differnt from the ordinary more common orb.  I film quite often and very rarely do I not catch some anomaly…mainly orbs which I am very used to now!  It is the other that intrigues and concerns me more!!  Very difficult to explain away a moving image.  I have also picked up a very clear EVP.  This was quite amazing as the EVP screamed, it was female and one could hear clearly the name she screamed.

On both Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters International you have team members ask a question to try to get an EVP then they just keep talking and talking and talking themselves. Obviously if someone or something is trying to communicate the team members chattering is going to be right over the EVP. Why cant they ask a question then hush for a minute or two?

Those EVP are very interesting. I ran them both through my preferred noise filters and the speech is quite clear, especially 'PEDRO'.
Nice.

JF Paranormal Research/Investigation @ 12:08 am

In reference to EVP in a foreign language, I had an interesting experience during a recent investigation. At the end of one of the investigations held at this location, as I was leaving the room, camera and EMF detector off but DVR still on, I captured a very clear EVP but couldn't understand what sounded like something other than a foreign language.

After close analyses and not finding any resemblance to any of the languages I either speak or am familiar with, I decided to reverse the audio and was stunned to hear very clearly the word "Adeus" meaning good-bye in Portuguese. Because of my Portuguese ancestry, it remains one of my favorite pieces of EVP I ever captured. This was personal and totally unrelated to the case I was working on. Although I never heard from this entity again, the way it was spoken made me feel as if someone was watching over me. Very powerful feeling.
