Recording EVP on your MP3 Player?

mp3player_evp.JPGBrandon asks whether he can use the built-in recorder on his MP3 player to capture EVP.

Yes.  Anything that records voice—including digital cameras, tape recorders, answering machines, and video cameras—can capture EVP.  Of course some devices will produce better quality sound than others.  For instance, an answering machine will generally produce lower-quality audio than a digital voice recorder.

can it work on i pod?

Michelle @ 4:28 pm

Hi Sami. Yes. As long as your ipod has a "record" button/feature, then you can use it. The sound quality might be less than ideal, though – but feel free to experiment.

Hi.  I am having a problem finding EVP download programs that we can use for our hunts.  Does anyone know of a site or any place on the internet that I can get it?

Lycanthrope @ 7:40 pm

I think Michelle and a few of us discussed this before somewhere else?  Michelle recommends Clear Voice and I recommend Audacity.  Both are fairly simple to understand and should be available online free.

Hi Tracey.  I'm sure you'll find the comment section of this EVP article helpful.  As Lycanthrope mentioned, we discuss both software programs in the comment section.  Several months ago, I created an EVP video in which I recommended Audacity.  In my opinion, Audacity is the best choice for new investigators since it's free and easy to learn.  A number of investigators also use Clear Voice for denoising, although Clear Voice costs around $50.  They do have a free trial version, though.

Let us know how things go for you.

I believe you can capture EVP's on cell phones. My friend Dave caught some very interesting ones some years back after his mother-in-law died.
