Hi Chauna. There are a number of ghost tour companies. Some of the more well-known include the Ghosts of Gettysburg, Ghost Tours of Galveston (Texas), Ursula Bielski's Chicago Ghost Tours, Haunted Heartland Tours (Ohio), Haunted Vegas Tours (Las Vegas, NV), Haunted Parkersburg Ghost Tours (West Virginia), and The Haunted Haight Walking Tour (San Francisco, CA). Other choices include: Best Antonio Ghost Tours (Texas) and Ghost Tours of St. Augustine (Florida). Another good choice is to call notoriously haunted destinations and ask if they offer public ghost tours. For example, the Myrtles Plantation (a notoriously haunted destination in Louisiana), offers public mystery/ghost tours.

Hi Lynn. I have emailed you, and I will try to refer you to someone in Ohio. Can you tell me what city are you located in, and what kind of activity you've been experiencing?

A very interesting situation. I would be interested in being kept informed on the situation and the resolution. I don't want to invade anyone's privacy, but it would be a rare opportunity to follow an investigation through to it's end in real time.

Thanks for letting us know, Sandy. I've updated the post to reflect the change. If you know of any other paranormal groups who offer public ghost hunts, feel free to let me know.

Sorry to hear about that.  I'm curious as to the reason why?  Is this due to insurance reasons or some sort of monetary reason?  Or is this due to some sort of "negative" press or public view?

austin (4 year ghost hunter) @ 6:06 pm

Hello,

My name's Austin and I am 15.  I've been ghost hunting since almost 5 years.  I know I started young, but i have pretty much masterd some of this stuff.  I have some tips on some things that some people might want.

E.V.P.:  When your first goin out to do an E.V.P. make sure you do NOT have a tape that has been used before.  I thought I had a break through, but really it was a faded recording iI had done before that mixed with the one that I did.  When you're asking questions, it's good to know about the history.  Example , my house has a history of Indians (our house is on a burial ground so there's lots of activity).  Ask about things of the past.  Ask "are you disturbed that we are here?" and if things move and shake then get out, but not fast.  Ghosts can't hurt you.  All my years of ghost hunting I have had 1 thing happen to me, but I lived.

PICTURES AND VIDEO: When takin pictures and video, try to do something like…provoke the ghost (don't insult them, or it turns out bad.  Trust me, I know), ask for the ghosts to move somthing.  Look very closely for things moving, and listen for voices too on your video because video can also act as an E.V.P.  I have years of expeirience, so if there are any questions please let me know.  I'll be happy to give some info on anything.

I live in Ohio.  I heard that you can go to old mansfield prison and hunt?  Is that true?

shannon @ 10:53 am

Yes, you can go to OSR in Mansfield Ohio to ghost hunt.  They offer public hunts for a fee.  I am going in May, they only take a small amount of people for each hunt.  Go to their website for details, http://tinyurl.com/mansfieldohio.  This is my first ghost hunt, other than a couple cemeteries.  Hope i'm not biting off more than I can chew!

Hello.

I am new to this site and am super excited. I recently joined a group in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and we are looking for places to investigate. Our preference is to investigate private and business purported hauntings. We are finding it difficult to find clientele. We do not charge for the investigations and approach investigations through using a scientific approach. Any advice?

can you guys do a investigation at an old insane asylum in athens ohio called the ridges? i have seen activity myself and want to have proof for others who doubt it.

James D @ 1:57 pm

I know you're not doing ghost hunts at the Higginsport School anymore, but I was wondering if anyone knew the history of the building. I checked it out a few days ago because I noticed the school through the trees when I was driving east on 52. According to ForgottenOH, a man was burned in the basement, but I know this kind of story can be easily made up. Is there any solid verification of this story, or if not, is there another story as to why the building is supposed to be haunted? What kind of history did you guys refer to when you did the hunts?

Sandy at ORPS @ 6:34 pm

Hi, James D. Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you regarding Higginsport School. I've been off the air for last year. The man burned in basement or boiler room is false. It was told to bring people to a Halloween haunted house. I know the school is haunted because I have pictures to prove it. Where I live, I can see school out of my front window.
